Social scientists rely heavily on social media data but most of us don’t know what is and (most importantly) what isn’t available. The invited speakers, who are all experts in social media data from various backgrounds and approaches, will help us navigate the rugged terrain. They will discuss the situation regarding access to a variety of important VLOPs (Very Large Online Platforms) like Facebook, X(Twitter), and more, with a focus on what kinds of data is available for researchers. This event is ideal for any researcher who wants to know more about the extent and limitations of social media data for their research. The speakers will also discuss the EU Digital Services Act and its potential effects on both VLOPs and researchers alike.
